Structured cabling and business Wi-Fi in Jamaica

Syxel installs structured cabling and business Wi-Fi in Jamaica for offices, schools, hotels, clinics and warehouses. A tidy, tested and documented network is the base that phones, cameras, card machines and every computer in the building rely on.

Signs your network needs work

Most network problems we see come from growth without a plan: extra switches added under desks, consumer routers used as access points, unlabeled cables and Wi-Fi that works in the front office but not in the back. The result is slow systems, dropped calls and long troubleshooting whenever something breaks.

  • Wi-Fi dead spots or connections that drop when people move around
  • A comms closet nobody can trace
  • Card machines or phones that go offline at busy times
  • No separation between staff, guest and device traffic

Structured cabling and business Wi-Fi in Jamaica, done properly

Structured cabling means every cable runs from a wall or ceiling point back to a central patch panel, through proper trunking or conduit, and is labeled at both ends. We test each run after installation so you know it performs as it should. That makes moves, additions and fault finding much simpler.

For wireless, we plan access point positions based on the building layout, wall materials and how many people and devices will connect. We use managed business access points that are configured centrally, so you get consistent coverage and can manage settings from one place.

Switching, segmentation and security

We install managed switches and set up VLANs to separate staff, guest, camera, voice and payment traffic. Guest Wi-Fi is kept away from business systems. Behind it all, a properly configured firewall controls what can reach the internet and what can reach your internal systems.

Network equipment goes into a ventilated cabinet with power protection, so heat and power surges are less likely to cause failures.

Ready for what comes next

A well-built network makes later projects easier. It is the backbone for CCTV installation, access control and a Starlink backup connection. If you are moving into a new space, bring us in before the ceilings close so cable routes can be planned properly.

How a cabling and Wi-Fi project runs

  1. Step 1

    Site assessment

We review the layout, existing cabling, closet and Wi-Fi problems.

  2. Step 2

    Design and quote

You get cable drop locations, access point positions and a quote.

  3. Step 3

    Install and test

We run cable, fit equipment and test every run and access point.

  4. Step 4

    Document and hand over

You get a network diagram, labeled patch panel and admin access.

Frequently asked questions

What drives the cost of a cabling project?

The number of cable drops, cable distances, ceiling and wall access, whether trunking or conduit is needed, and the switching and cabinet equipment involved. We quote after a site assessment.

Can you work while our office is open?

Yes, in most cases. We plan disruptive work such as ceiling access or the network cutover for quieter periods or outside business hours where needed.

Why not just add more routers to fix Wi-Fi?

Extra consumer routers often create separate networks that compete with each other and cannot be managed together. Planned business access points cover the space more evenly and hand devices from one to the next as people move.

Will we get documentation?

Yes. Every job ends with a network diagram, labeled patch panel, test results for the cable runs and admin access to the equipment.

What do we need to have ready for the assessment?

Access to the comms closet, ceilings and any areas where coverage is poor, plus a floor plan if you have one. A list of the problems staff notice, such as where calls drop or which rooms have weak Wi-Fi, helps us focus on the right areas.

Can you extend our network to another building on the property?

Yes. Depending on distance and line of sight, we can run cable underground or overhead, or set up a point-to-point wireless link between buildings. We will recommend the option that suits the site after the assessment.
